Prologue

It was a bright day. The stadium was sold out. Cheers and applause were filling the stadium, and cheerleaders were dancing to boost up the energy.

It felt like the stadium was divided into two halves. The rivalry was felt the most when a team entered the playing court, led by a young boy with a 'C' written on the captain's band on his hand.

"The team of Silverleaf School is here with their captain leading—Min Yoongi."

'YOONGI!'

 'YOONGI!'

'YOONGI!'

They cheered for the captain of the Silverleaf. Just then another team arrived, and one boy dribbled the ball in his hands and aimed it at the basket—boom! A clean hit.

The commentator said enthusiastically, "WOW, WHAT A HIT! THAT WAS A CLEAN THREE-POINTER." Cheers erupted, making the whole stadium feel the rivalry.

'JIMIN!'

'JIMIN!'

'JIMIN!'

"Yes, you're right! That one and only is the star player of Veritas International School—Park Jimin," the commentator introduced.

Soon players did their handshakes, and the game began; the ball was in the hands of Silverleaf and then was snatched by Jimin.

Dribbling it towards the opposite team's basket, Yoongi blocked his path. "How are you, sweetheart?" Yoongi mocked with a smirk.

"Fuck you, Min," Jimin hissed, passing the ball to his teammate already.

By the time the game was leading by the score of 32-38 by Veritas and Silverleaf, respectively. They got the halftime.

Water was chugged by players, and coaches passed instructions.

But two pairs of eyes were glued on each other, not for love but for the burning hatred—but that wasn't just limited to the basketball court but also in the audience.

Jimin's and Yoongi's eyes looked up as they saw sitting in two VIP rooms opposite to each other their elder brothers—Kim Namjoon and Min Seokjin.

"Hyung!" both muttered under their breaths. They knew they were under pressure now because now this wasn't just a friendly match between two schools; it was between two powerful families.

Someone in the audience whispered to another, "The Mins and Parks have been enemies for years."

The other person responded, whispering, "People don't say it out loud, but there is a saying that Mins and Parks always have their weapons out."

The whistle rang, and both younger brothers started playing the same game with more aggression and with the urge for validation from their elder brothers.

Everyone held their breath when the last fifteen seconds were left; the score was 46-48 between Veritas and Silverleaf, and the ball was in the hands of Jimin.

Jimin dove and jumped from the center, aiming for the basket—a three-pointer—before Yoongi could snatch it.

The stadium held its breath, and Namjoon and Seokjin rose up, their eyes on the ball that touched the rim, then bounced at the board, then back at the rim, and then slid down—right in the hoop.

The commentator cheered, "A BASKET FROM VERITAS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL! PARK JIMIN'S FAMOUS THREE-POINTER!"

"VERITAS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL TAKES THE MATCH! They entered with a three-pointer and conquered with a three-pointer," the commentator announced.

Yoongi's team stood there disappointed while Jimin's team celebrated; he looked up at the VIP stand where no one was standing—his brother had left as soon as he lost.

"How are you, sweetheart?" Jimin mocked in the same tone and patted Yoongi's shoulder in fake sympathy, making Yoongi jerk his hand away.

Jimin grinned victoriously; soon his brother entered the playing court with a flower bouquet in his hands.

Namjoon handed Jimin the bouquet, saying, "Well played." Jimin's eyes shone with something unsaid while Yoongi's heart burned.

Namjoon looked at Yoongi and patted his shoulder sympathetically as he said, "Good game, Yoongi." Namjoon turned and left without any glance, his guards leaving with him.

Jimin was called for the man of the match medal, and soon his team received the certificates with the winner badges while Yoongi's team stood there watching.

Girls were screaming their lungs out seeing boys—whether from the winning team or from the team that lost—they screamed names.

While one girl asked her friend, "Are they that big of enemies?" Her friend asked, shocked, "Girl, do you not know the Mins and the Parks?"

She shook her head in denial, and the story began.

Two families. One betrayal. Years of hatred. A legacy no one questioned.

And somewhere in the middle of it all stood two boys. Raised to destroy each other. They didn't know it yet. But this wasn't just rivalry.

This was—Inherited Hatred.
